“Blogging is so BORING; I’m a video content girly.”
Blogging initially was suggested to me last June by a mentor who I expressed my passion about prophetic artistry to. Before that, I hardly saw myself as a blogger.
Nonetheless, I considered the idea, then over the span of a few months I became more reassured that blogging was an excellent platform for me to share my journey of being a prophetic artist and inspire like minded individuals.
So what did I do?
I spent about the next few months doing painstaking content research for my launch in the following October.
Then, I researched again.
And again.
October came and passed and I was still researching. ‘Researching’ became a fancy synonym for:
“I’m afraid of what people will think of this, so I’ll buy time with something that seems productive.”
I eventually became tired of disappointing myself with every additional month of delayed launch, so I just launched. Now eight months in, I’m elated to share my triumphs and what I hope to accomplish in the next six months.
Consistency is key.
I didn’t want my blogging journey to follow my usual procrastination trend.
So I was very intentional about planning my content well in advance, setting goals and implementing good project management habits to ensure my releases were consistent and on schedule.
My consistency helped me to improve my organizational skills and overall self-confidence as a writer. I’m happy to say that I’ve successfully managed to publish a post at least once every two weeks for the past eight months!
People across the world are interested in your content.

I feared that keywords such as “Christian” and “prophetic” would make my audience too small and unreachable.
I never even imagined that many people in my region would be interested in something like this. So I was pleasantly surprised when the statistics showed people from 20+ countries tuning in including South Korea, Ireland and Germany among others which I did not expect.
I learned to never underestimate the interest of people around the world. If your content is informative, solves a need and is properly marketed, then your audience is guaranteed meet you where you’re at.
Learn to Pivot.
One of the main reasons I keep researching is of my perfectionist mentality.
I wanted to know everything about blogging BEFORE I started to blog, which was unrealistic. While I researched thoroughly prior to launching this blog, I needed to maintain a flexible mindset.
For instance, when I initial started this blog, I was publishing a post once per week and was hoping to continue this trend throughout the year. However, as my workload for other projects increased and weekly posts became less sustainable, I started publishing twice a month.
That switch didn’t mean I was failing; it just meant I was pivoting as various life circumstances changed.
As I go through this blogging journey, I continue to learn new things that I wouldn’t have known during that initial research period. Being adaptable helps me to find more effective and efficient ways of creating content.
Challenges

Despite all these wonderful lessons, there are still areas for improvement. In the initial stages of my blogging journey I was afraid to market the blog. This negatively affected my intentionality in sharing posts, developing SEO strategy and implementing more data driven decision making.
I’m managing to gradually get out of this funk.
Final Thoughts
Even though I was initially apprehensive about becoming a blogger, I have no regrets about the choice and am anticipating this journey to open more doors for me as a content creator.
