Durante este año, fui a Cuba por segunda vez y fue maravillosa.
(Earlier this year, I went to Cuba for the second time and it was amazing).
In my teens, I always dreamt of being a traveling artist. To most, who have a traditional approach to career, that might seem a lofty goal to attain. But my faith in God allows me to hold fast to that dream even today.
When I was 15 I visited Cuba briefly during my summer break. The Spanish aficionado in me was thrilled by the fact that I heard minimal English for one week and my inner artist was enamored by the rich art history the country offers. After I left, I deeply anticipated the day I would go back.
Over the span of a few years, I had become a more robust Spanish speaker and a well rounded artist. The combination of both made my second experience in Cuba significantly more impressive.
While visiting my sister who is a student in Cuba, we explored many places in Havana that caught our interest: restaurants, beaches, church, public buildings and we even randomly stopped by a art studio to talk to locals.
A goal on my travel bucket list is to go to an art gallery every time I visit a new country. The most ethereal experience for me during my second one week stay in Cuba was visiting El Museo Nacional de las Bellas Artes (the National Fine Art Museum): three stories of pure bliss for the traveling artist!

My favorite piece quite ironically was a huge sculpture of a fly on a wall. Very striking! But the head was that of a human head, that appeared like a political figure. I stared for a few minutes questioning who the fly on the wall represents.
This enthrallment continued as I browsed through each new floor.
On the third floor, I met an art aficionado who so passionately walked me through Cuban art History _ in Spanish! He was filled with such animation and my attentive ears sifted as many details as I could through his thick Cuban accent.
Cuban art is the hallmark of the beauty of resilience. Each work of art contributed to the thrilling conversation of their struggles and triumphs.
I’m already excited for my next trip there. Best of all I was able to document the entire thing on video to keep close until my return.
