In my previous post Christian Artist vs Prophetic Artist we discussed the similarities and differences between the two.
If you’re still wondering whether you’re a prophetic artist here are a few signs you want to look out for:
- You are making a concerted effort to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. You live a life of consecration, obedience and surrender to the Holy Spirit and His will for your life.
- You have a prophetic gift.
- You have a natural gift or knack for visual art and design in multiple mediums.
- You often have vivid and/ or frequent dreams and visions and receive revelation of the interpretations of these dreams from the Holy Spirit.
- You’ve had a strong sense ever since you were younger that one of the main purposes of your life was to create spiritual art that glorifies God.
- Creative concepts seem to easily “come to you” without you thinking too much about it.
- You cringe at counterfeit forms of spirituality such as idol worship or demonic influence being depicted in art.
- You can discern the spirits behind creative works and prophetic art stands out to you.
- You see vivid imagery or visions when you read the bible, worship, pray or fast.
- You sense you have a calling to teach other artists (Exodus 35:30-35)
Please note this is not an exhaustive list. The first step to becoming a prophetic artist is getting to know the greatest prophet and artist that exists: Jesus Christ.
It’s important to be teachable and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into spiritual maturity and emotional healing. He has graciously given us access to his holy spirit to help us on this journey.
After reading this blog post, take some time to prayerfully ask God about His purpose for your creativity.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)
